Anyone who’s ever seen the range of international Oreo flavors knows we’re being deprived of so many interesting cookies. Case in point, just a few weeks ago, I picked up cheese-flavored Oreos from Taiwan. No, they aren’t cream cheese or cheesecake—these are cheese flavored Oreos based on a particularly salty Chinese cheese. (Vote below on whether I should review them for Sporked.)

This year, the American arm of Oreo has decided to bring a few of those unique, international flavors to the motherland in a single cookie made in a very small quantity. I was honored with an early pack of these new “small batch” Cherry Blossom Matcha Oreo Thins to review here on Sporked. Let’s crack open the cookies before I think too hard about how much they’ll go for on eBay.

Cherry Blossom Matcha Oreo

New Oreo Flavor!

Cherry Blossom Matcha Oreo

Pros: Oreo Thins aren’t my preferred Oreo format, but I really enjoyed how crisp and light this cookie feels compared to a standard Oreo. I dissected one of these new Oreos to taste the specialty creme without the cookie getting in the way, and I absolutely loved it. These two floral flavors of matcha and cherry blossom work perfectly together. (And in case you were wondering, no, the flavoring isn’t actually split down the middle of the dual-colored creme.) Here’s hoping these make their way onto shelves in the future so everyone can try them.

Cons: The last new Oreo Thins flavor I tried was so strong, I was thankful it didn’t have any more creme. This new Oreo cookie gives me the exact opposite feeling. Cherry blossom and matcha are such light flavors that the two thin chocolate cookies overpower them to the point that you can barely tell these aren’t regular Oreo Thins. I’m really tempted to dissect a few more to find out what this would taste like with the standard Oreo cookie-to-creme ratio.

Wait, can I even get my hands on these new Oreos?

I’m not sure! The brand made only 1,000 packs of these new Oreo Thins and they’re tricky to get. If you signed up on this Oreo Cherry Blossom Matcha page before 5/10/25, you should get an email with a special code. On 5/15/25 at 10am PST, everyone who signed up can enter that code at checkout to order one of those 1,000 packs for the cost of shipping and handling—$13. That’s so many steps!

While I appreciate the attempt to discourage snack scalpers (a species I fight regularly in the course of writing for Sporked), there has to be a less convoluted way to get these into the hands of actual fans.

  • Try the chocolate covered pretzels oreos we have them in South Carolina and I tried them and I didn’t like them.

  • Lucky!!! How cool that you got to try these! Hopefully the company will bring them back in larger numbers, and with thicker creme! Dare we dream to ever have a Double Stuf Cherry Blossom Matcha? Thank you for sharing this review!

  • I did an epic sandwich cookie blind taste test with my family starting from Christmas (took a couple months to get through them all). By and large, we didn’t really care for most of the international flavors, and we also learned that we don’t really like any of the Thins except the lemon ones, which actually took my top spot overall.

  • If you had given it a 10 out of 10 or maybe even a 9 out of 10 I might have at least thought about spending $13 for a pack of cookies but no way on this one!

  • I haven’t tried them but generally I prefer the golden Oreo and think that would go better with the creme.

    • I thought the same thing since they say chocolate overpowered the creme oh well trial and error
