Can you feel it? Can you hear it? That roaring sound? That’s the sound of the World Cup drawing ever closer, day by day, and hordes of fans getting ready to scream their hearts out in honor of soccer. And it’s also, if you’ll allow me to extend the image I’m running with a little further, the sound of food companies rushing to release World Cup-related products and deals. Chips Ahoy, Lay’s, Domino’s, Pringles, Powerade – they’re all at it.

And The Coca-Cola Company’s at it too, albeit with a release that, for whatever reason, it’s not being super vocal about. Well, no matter. We’ll be vocal instead. Coca-Cola just dropped new soccer ball bottles, and they’re a lot of fun.
Coca-Cola Soccer Ball Bottles
Coca-Cola’s new bottles have started to appear at Walmart (which is only appropriate, as they’re a Walmart exclusive). While they’re not entirely kickable due to the lid and all, they’re about the closest you’ll get to being able to use a beverage container as a soccer ball. Well, apart from Buzzballz, which also has some World Cup-inspired flavors.
But I digress! These spherical bottles are decorated with stars and stripes livery, and contain 13.5 oz each of Coca-Cola. We took a peek at the Walmart website, and they don’t look available to purchase online – so this might be one of those things that you just happen to stumble upon in store. But if you do? Fun. Impractical. But fun.
This Feels Familiar…
What’s that, you say? Ah, yes. Over on Reddit, people have pointed out that they’ve seen this bottle shape before. “It definitely looks just like a reskinned version of the Christmas ornament bottles and the Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge ones,” said one person, who also mentioned that each bottle’s price of $2.50 is a little high. And you know what, it kind of is, for the sheer liquid you’re getting – but if you’re a Coke bottle aficionado, this one might be up your street.
Elsewhere, The Coca-Cola Company is celebrating the World Cup in a couple of other, more high-profile ways. It’s got a bunch of prize giveaways and fan experiences up for grabs, and is also running a Daily Sticker Pack promo, through which you can collect a total of 12 Panini sticker packs, with some of the highest-profile players in the tournament featured on them. These new (or repurposed) bottles look as though they’re just a minor part of it all.
