Doritos Flamin’ Hot Mystery Doritos Are a Must Try

Whether it’s VooDEW (Mountain Dew’s yearly Mystery flavor), Gatorade, What the Fanta, or one of the many other mystery snacks, I LOVE Mystery Flavors. So, when Frito-Lay announced that a new Mystery Flavor of Flamin’ Hot Doritos would be released to store shelves, I was absolutely ecstatic.

I’ve managed to go relatively “spoiler free” regarding the actual flavor of this year’s Doritos Mystery Flavor. But I finally located it at Walmart, so it’s finally time to don my detective’s cap and grab my magnifying glass to determine what this Doritos Mystery Flavor might be.

New Doritos Flavor!

Doritos Flamin’ Hot Mystery Flavor

Doritos opened the can of worms on Reddit recently by listing around 30 potential flavors for fans to vote on what they think the Mystery Flavor might be. After tasting them and perusing the list for potential matches, I am prepared to lock in chicken curry as Sporked’s official guess. Whether I’m right or wrong, though, this is certainly a Doritos flavor for the ages.

Pros: These new Doritos are FLAVORFUL! I ate one singular chip and was immediately hit with a huge blast of flavor—even more than you’d normally expect from Doritos. Brands talk about being flavor blasted, but these are truly flavor blasted. The heat kind of takes the backseat to a pleasant curry-like flavor. I also get notes of citrus flavor, maybe lime, along with a big hint of artificial chicken flavoring (yes, this is a positive quality). It reminds me of Maruchan Ramen. These new Doritos are super tasty and I’m going to have to stop myself from eating the entire bag in one sitting.

Cons: The Flamin’ Hot aspect of the chips is a bit muted. There is a touch of heat in the aftertaste, but spicy snack aficionados will be a little bit disappointed at the lack of spice.
