Halloween Is Early With These Adorable New Oreos

Sure, Christmas in July sounds like a fun idea, especially for those of us who still have some unexploded red and green Fourth of July fireworks. And the Hallmark Channel is clearly on board―no doubt already teaching everyone about the healing romantic power of Christmas (if you’re a feisty ad executive and/or a small town carpenter suspicious of smart women in high heels who want to shut down your grandfather’s sled factory).

Practically speaking, though, Christmas in July is kind of a mismatch. Think about it: your award-winning ugly sweaters are tucked away, temps are high enough to melt the candy canes you keep reusing for some reason, and if July sunshine hits any quantity of tinsel at the wrong angle, it could blind you. Or just really sting your eyes. So let’s make like the good people at Frankford Candy and forget about Christmas in July―because we can starting thinking about Halloween and Oreos right now. 

Never Too Early For Delicious Ghosts

To be honest, it seemed almost scientifically impossible for Oreo to get any more on board with seasonal adaptations and ridiculously delicious flavor combinations. Really, the fact that Oreo ever decided to build new flavors, colors, and double (even mega) “stuf” into the iconic combination of chocolate cookie and creme is incredible in and of itself. 

And here they’ve done it again. Not only is Oreo coming out with an adorably spooky Halloween cookie (well, sort of cookie―more on that later), it’s in the shape of a ghost. If, like us, you’re (very logically, very reasonably) afraid of ghosts, don’t worry―according to some preview pics, this one looks pretty happy. OK, upon closer inspection, the ghost looks a little too, like maniacally happy. But that’s OK. Because you can eat it.

Not Quite A Cookie

The ghosts look like they come individually wrapped, a cookie-candy combo that starts with a “dark chocolaty shell.” (FYI words like “dark chocolaty” indicate that you’re not going to be biting into a dark chocolate with some significant percentage of cacao―it will, however, look hella spooky.) 

Inside each ghost, you’ll find what every Oreo lover kind of secretly wishes was available in jar form: Oreo cookie pieces and that smooth, sweet, why-isn’t-this-a-moisturizing-lotion-scent Oreo creme. Bear in mind, the cookie candies haven’t hit the shelves yet, but we hear they might hit stores like Walmart sometime soon.
