You might have heard of Jones Soda in the context of their weird and wacky flavors like turkey and gravy, ham, or beef (that last one is specifically for dogs, but the others were for humans!). But the Vancouver, BC, company is really all about creating “bold” versions of classic and new soda flavors sweetened with cane sugar (aside from their one diet soda).
Mostly sold in glass bottles adorned with ever-changing labels featuring random photos from fans, Jones Sodas are also known for their bottle caps, which have uplifting messages written on them. And you can trade them in for gear. How cute is that?
But even though they’re charming and the colors are vibrant and the packaging is pleasing, not every Jones Soda flavor is a smash hit. In our original taste test, we tasted 15 Jones Soda flavors (in rainbow order) and we had some notes on a couple. But, for the most part, they are all good—some just happen to be better than others. For this updated ranking, we recently tasted two more Jones Soda flavors: Hatch Chile & Lime and the beloved Berry Lemonade (a glaring omission from our original ranking, according to our readers). Here are 17 Jones Soda flavors, ranked from give it a miss to we’re jonesing for it.

- Jones Sour Mango Melon Soda
-
This is sour. That’s about it. It’s not really mango. It’s barely melon. But it’s definitely sour. It’s sour. There’s just not a lot of nuance. Mango and melon are very delicate flavors, and I think a mango-melon soda would be delightful. No need to layer on the sour, Jones.

- Jones Pineapple Cream Soda
-
I love pineapple. I love how tangy it is—and a little funky and rich and zippy. But this soda lacks that signature zing. It does taste like pineapple, but very sweet pineapple. It’s not balanced by any acidity. I yearned for a squeeze of lime with every sip.

- Jones Watermelon Soda
-
Upon first sniff I thought this Jones Soda flavor would taste like classic synthetic watermelon flavor—aka super duper sweet. But it is not. It’s tart! Not sour, per se, but definitely not sweet. And the melon flavor reminds me more of cantaloupe than watermelon. Personally, I think this is a bright and zippy flavor. It’s fun! But my colleague, Gwynedd Stuart, was not a fan of the tartness.

- Jones Blue Bubblegum Soda
-
If you’re a huge bubblegum fan, you might be let down by this vibrantly blue Jones Soda flavor. It doesn’t taste much like bubblegum. For me, someone who doesn’t love bubblegum, that is actually a positive. It tastes like a pretty good cream soda with a blue zing at the end. You know what blue tastes like. And if you don’t, this isn’t for you.

- Jones Strawberry Lime Soda
-
Think about a melted red freezy pop—or freezer pop or Otter Pop, depending on your regional alliances. That’s what this strawberry soda tastes like. It has that sweet zip and fruity “red” flavor. There is some tanginess, but it’s not lime tanginess. It’s just general citric acid-style tanginess.

- Jones Cola Cane Sugar Soda
-
Jones Cola kinda tastes like Pepsi, which is to say, not as good as Coke. It just doesn’t have that same punch or aggressive fizz. But it’s also not like a botanical heavy craft cola. It tastes like a slightly more muted, mainstream cola. If Coke is simply too bubbly for you, this might be the Jones Soda flavor to try. But otherwise, it’s just totally acceptable.

- Jones Diet Cola Sugar-Free
-
Yes, I like Jones Diet Cola better than Jones regular cola. Sweetened with sucralose, it tastes more like Coke Zero than it tastes like Diet Coke. It’s sweet and smooth and doesn’t have too much of a fake sugar aftertaste. It still doesn’t have quite the carbonation that some of the team craved, but I would happily drink one of these with my afternoon sandwich.

- Jones Green Apple Soda
-
This is a shockingly green soda. We’re talking, like, greener than Slimer. Greener than Mike from Monsters, Inc. It’s green like Lil Nas X’s suit from the 2019 AMAs or Billie Eilish’s old hair. But the color isn’t the only impressive thing about this Jones Soda flavor. It’s super duper tart and it really tastes like an actual granny smith apple. It might be too tart and too green for some folks (*cough*Gwynedd*cough*). But I’m into it. It’s totally unique and, I think, one of the must-try Jones Soda flavors.

- Jones Cream Soda
-
We tried this Jones Soda flavor for our 2024 Burp Bracket (our search for the best regional soda). Spoiler alert: It didn’t win. But it still has a ton of fans. I don’t think it’s the best cream soda around. It lacks creaminess, to be honest. But it’s sweet and easy-drinking and it tastes a bit like liquid funnel cake or cotton candy. If you’ve ever wanted to drink a county fair, this could be the best Jones Soda flavor for you.

- Jones Special Release Hatch Chile & Lime
-
This limited release Jones soda flavor could have gone so wrong. It could have tasted like sweetened carbonated hot sauce. Instead, it’s sophisticated and restrained as all get out. It’s shockingly dry—barely sweet. It packs a lot of grassy green chile flavor and it is genuinely spicy. Is it enjoyable? Kinda! It’s like a spicy, less sweet version of a celery soda. But I wish there was a bit more lime. I think that would really make this a soda I would buy again.

- Jones Special Release Nuka Victory Cola
-
This Jones Soda was made in collaboration with Fallout, an Amazon show. I do not watch this show, nor have I played the video game on which the show is based. (But I do love Walton Goggins! Hi, Walton! Come taste food with us!) But that didn’t stop me from really enjoying this peach-mango soda. It tastes much more peachy than mango-y. But that’s okay. Because peach soda, as it turns out, is quite good. It’s sweet and a little tart and very, very drinkable. Grab it before it’s gone.

- Jones Root Beer
-
Jones Soda Root Beer tastes like a classic root beer. It’s not the old old school root beer, though. It’s not heavy on the botanicals. It doesn’t taste like something you’d find at an apothecary. It’s in the same family of A&W or Barq’s—but a little softer on the bubbles. It would be absolutely delightful in a frosted mug or a root beer float with some vanilla ice cream.

- Jones Lemon Lime Soda
-
Even though this isn’t at the very top of our Jones Soda flavors ranking, out of all the Jones Sodas we tried, this is the one I’ll probably buy again. It’s a grown-up version of Sprite or 7UP! It’s not quite as sweet as those lemon-lime sodas. But it’s still sweet enough. And it tastes like actual citrus. It’s tangy and super fizzy—really refreshing. Fellow grown-ups, give it a try.

- Jones Orange & Cream Soda
-
This Jones Soda flavor walks that line between cream and orange so well. It has a lot of bold, bright, Sunkist-style acidity with a hint of that classic soda shop phosphate flavor and texture. But it’s not too vanilla-y, like a lot of cream sodas can be. Orange soda plays second fiddle to more popular soda flavors a lot of the time. But Jones is really doing its fans a favor with this well-crafted flavor.

- Jones Grape Soda
-
Grape flavored stuff tastes like medicine a lot of the time. This grape soda does NOT taste like medicine, at all. It also doesn’t taste like any other grape soda I’ve ever had. It tastes like real, actual concord grapes! It is so good. And it also happens to be a gorgeous shade of purple. It’s really got it all: looks and flavor.

- Jones Berry Lemonade Soda
-
When we first tasted all the Jones soda flavors (at least, all the Jones soda flavors we could find), we didn’t include this blue flavor. And people were outraged. “It’s the best flavor!” they shouted at me on the street. “Why didn’t you taste the Berry Lemonade?” they wrote in the dust on my car. Well, we finally did. And you were all right. It’s very, very good. It smells like a sour blue candy. And it tastes like it too. It’s bright and zippy and refreshing and it definitely keeps you coming back. It even has a bit of actual lemonade flavor. It is really good. You all were right. But it’s still not the best Jones soda flavor.

- Jones Special Release Orange Chocolate Soda
-
We loved this Jones Soda flavor when it was branded as Werewolf Piss for Halloween, and, after tasting through all the other Jones Soda flavors, we still love it even without being told we’re drinking urine. It tastes exactly like an orange Tootsie Pop. It’s a true feat of soda science. It’s totally delicious and it’s the best Jones Soda flavor, for sure. If you’re never tried it, you need to, ASAP. Have you tried it yet? What are you waiting for, damnit!
