Chili’s New $6 Margarita Comes with Popping Boba

Margarita season is in full swing, guys. Given that we’re T-minus one week to Cinco de Mayo and that summer is just around the corner, we’re starting to see an influx of new margs and marg-adjacent products. We’ve had a new tumbler shaped like a margarita glass. We’ve had new canned margaritas from influencer extraordinaire Alix Earle (which we tried, and we sorta liked). And now we’ve got new margs from Chili’s, with popping boba in them.

And we have to admit…the thought of a margarita with popping boba may not be authentic by any stretch of the imagination, but it does sound quite fun. Here’s what you need to know.

Chili’s Popping Boba Marg: An Experience For The Senses

This new margarita from Chili’s is its Margarita of the Month for May, and it’s definitely a new take on the drink. The Chili’s Popping Boba Marg is made with Lunazul Blanco Tequila, Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, Monin Watermelon, its house-made sour mix, and – the crowning touch – dragonfruit-flavored popping boba pearls. It’s gonna be sweet, sour, slightly floral, and more than anything, it’ll have texture. Chili’s is virtually synonymous with margaritas at this point (it sells more of the drinks than any other chain in the country), so it’s probably no surprise that it’s starting to stretch itself. 

According to Chili’s, the boba-infused move is right on-trend for its Gen Z customers. “The Popping Boba Marg taps into what younger guests are gravitating towards: drinks that are fun, customizable and full of texture,” Chili’s said in a statement to Parade. “It builds on the momentum of the Margarita of the Month program by pairing a fan-favorite platform with one of today’s most viral drink trends.” Boba is definitely all the rage at the moment, and not just in drinks: McDonald’s new KPop Demon Hunters Derpy McFlurry infuses it into ice cream, after all. These little pearls are everywhere. 

When Is This New Margarita Available?

The new Chili’s Popping Boba Marg will be around from April 30 and will be available through May. It’s priced at $6 – a steal in this day and age! – and along with the drink, Chili’s is also introducing a Popping Boba Lemonade for $5, giving its customers a non-alcoholic option. Well, they’re gonna have a lot of those pearls left over; they had to find something to do with them. 

Is That The Only Thing That’s Happening At Chili’s?

Absolutely not! The chain has just launched a new chicken sandwich menu, with six different options that go big on flavor and spice. A couple of these sandwiches will also be on its value menu, in a move that might challenge McDonald’s and the reign (is it a reign) of its McCrispy. This chain is busy!
