It’s a day ending in -y, which means I’ve got a new Reese’s Cup flavor to review. The Reese’s Laboratory has been hard at work recently, cranking out wintery flavors like Sugar Cookie, back-to-school flavors like PB&J, and everything in between (aka, Spring Sprinkles). Today, we’ve got the seasonally-void Peanut Butter Pie Miniature Cups, described as “peanut butter pie flavored milk chocolate with graham flavored cookie pieces.”

This flavor has been on shelves for a little while now, but for some reason, it decided to personally evade me, Sporked’s #1 newshound on the Reese’s beat. Seriously, this is a first-time experience for me—and you’ll see why very soon.

New Reese’s Flavor!

Reese’s Peanut Butter Pie Miniature Cups

Pros: This new Reese’s flavor is reminiscent of a regular Reese’s Cup, and it is my favorite shape for a Reese’s Cup (mini). (One day Sporked is going to let me rank all seven sizes of classic Reese’s Cups. I was made for this ranking, I promise it’ll be good.) For the sake of gluten-free individuals in my life, I am glad the “cookie pieces” were not made with wheat flour. And that’s the end of the pros section. If you’re wondering why it is so minimal, there’s a very good reason for that!

Cons: It’s…bad. This new Reese’s Cup is bad. I didn’t know that was possible. This has caused me to have a minor existential crisis. Materially, there should be nothing different about the flavor of this Reese’s Cup. This Reese’s Cup is basically Reese’s Cup-flavored, and yet, it is bad. How could this happen? The “graham flavored cookie pieces” are way too firm and the chocolate just tastes wrong. I’m borderline concerned about Reese’s if they thought these were a good idea.

Where can I find this new Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups flavor?

If you would also like to experience the first bad Reese’s Cup to hit shelves in recent memory, you should be able to find this anywhere that large varieties of Reese’s Cups are sold. In particular, I’ve spotted bags at Walmart and Target stores.

But really, you should skip these and head straight for the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Hershey’s Kisses that launched around the same time. I entirely co-sign the super-positive review that my pal Tyler Bowers published last month.

  • You are WAYYYY off. These taste NOTHING like a Reese’s and they are all the better for it. They taste exactly like Peanut Butter Pie and the crunchy pieces are so good. And that’s coming from someone who would strongly prefer reese’s peanut butter gritty cup filling replace all normal peanut butter. Somehow, they nail this flavor AND it is astoundingly delicious. I don’t know what planet you’re on!

  • They were horrible and had more of a maple taste than peanut butter. I ended up giving the bag to my nephew (who LOVES Reese’s) and he threw them away. Yuck is all I have to say. Yuck.

  • I’m gonna have to try one of these now! I love a peanut butter pie flavored thing! sounds absolutely crazy to me that they turned out weird- seems like a home run concept for reese’s!

  • 100% agree. The flavor of these is so artificial and honestly awful. To me is is like a fake maple taste, which is weird because there is no maple in peanut butter pie!

    • I’m still trying to figure out where the maple smell and taste comes from because you’re right – no maple in peanut butter pie

  • I was so excited for these and they disappointed so hard. I’m a Reese’s die hard and the bag has been sitting in my candy drawer for at least a month now. And the graham smell is so strong that if you just open my drawer you’re hit with a wave of graham. Definitely not a good balance of flavors.
