Hi, everyone. How was your July? Ours was a mixed bag. It’s hot outside and the office AC broke. Our beloved intern Madison Ramirez reached the end of her tenure (we love you, Madison!). And, well, I broke up with the French guy I was seeing, which means I’ll never look at croissants the same again. On the other hand, I’ve realized I have a brand after all: negativity. I thrive on it. Sometimes, life can be sucky, and that’s okay!
But you know what isn’t sucky? The yummiest food we ate in July. From a downright scrumptious flavor of Magnum ice cream bars to the new frozen Hooters Wings flavors you can now find at Publix, let’s talk about them. And as always, check out our weekly best things series on our social platforms if you want to keep up!
- Korean-Style Sweet & Spicy Chili Ruffles
-
Are food brands finally riding the K-Wave? From Costco’s kimbap to the new Korean BBQ SPAM flavor and Kettle Brand Gojuchang Chips, I sense a trend. These Korean-Style Sweet & Spicy Chili Ruffles totally blew us away. The main flavor here is a classic sweet chili sauce mixed with notes of pepper jam, molasses, and other savory spices. They are smoky, sweet, salty, crunchy, and highly addictive. Since they’re limited edition, we implore you to try these before they disappear from shelves for good.
- Double Raspberry Magnum Ice Cream Bars
-
My thesis: Bitter dark chocolate and bright, tart raspberry is an underrated flavor combo. My evidence: this incredible Magnum ice cream bar, which you’ve probably never heard of but need to try, immediately. The double raspberry ice cream filling is bold, fruity, and luscious. The thick, crunchy dark chocolate coating makes every bite memorable. Don’t just take my word for it! Take it from my colleague and dessert expert Jordan Myrick: “This is one of the most delicious frozen treats I’ve had in my life.”

- Uncle Roger Creamy Chili Crab Pasta
-
Uncle Roger Creamy Chili Crab Pasta is unlike anything we’ve ever tasted in the Sporked kitchen. Born of a collab between Chinese-American food brand MiLa and YouTuber Uncle Roger (aka Nigel Ng), this Malaysian-inspired pasta tastes like something from a trendy five-star Asian-fusion restaurant. It comes with two spicy creamy crab sauces (one significantly spicier than the other), chili oil made from Carolina Reaper chilies (to test your heat tolerance on a biblical level), thick bucatini pasta, and real lump crab meat. Like some of the finer things in life, this isn’t exactly cheap—but it sure is one of the best things (if not the best thing) we tried in July.
- Feel Good Foods Mozzarella Sticks
-
I’m pretty pleased to include a gluten-free frozen food product in this month’s roundup of best things. What these frozen mozzarella sticks lack in super crispy breading, they make up for in delicious, juicy, salty flavor and stretchy, ooey-gooey cheese pull. Even when we tasted them head to head against other mozzarella stick brands with real (and admittedly, crunchier) breading, these were the ones we kept coming back to. Good job, Feel Good Foods! I’m feelin’ good.

- Hooters Daytona Beach BBQ Smoked Wings
-
“Daytona, you’re more than just a beachtown with a racetrack. Now, you’re the inspo for some Hooters frozen wings that downright wowed us,” said editor-in-chief Justine Sterling in her review of frozen Hooters Wings. It’s one of the nicest things ever written about Daytona Beach, Florida. Of all four flavors of Hooters Wings we tried, Daytona Beach BBQ were particularly exceptional. High quality smoked meat? Check. Smoky, tangy, spicy sauce? Check. An X factor that kept us coming back for more? Check. (We suspect it’s the tart mandarin flavor—so yummy.) Frozen Hooters Wings are now available exclusively in the Publix frozen aisles—yes, this is a big win for Publix shoppers, and Publix shoppers only, I’m afraid. If you have the chance to try them, don’t chicken out.
