The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits theaters on April 1st, but we’ll see tons of food and drink collaborations hit stores and shelves nationwide ahead of that date: Feastables candy, ICEEs, General Mills cereal, bubly sparkling water, and more. (Stay tuned to Sporked for detailed write-ups on all those collaborations.) Today’s news comes to us from the ice cream of the future: Dippin’ Dots is traveling to the Super Mario Galaxy. Now through April 30th, you can find Galaxy Pop Dippin’ Dots in freezers and locations nationwide.

What flavor are these Super Mario-inspired Galaxy Pop Dippin’ Dots?
We don’t know. These Galaxy Pop Dippin’ Dots are the first “Mystery Flavor” release from Dippin’ Dots in recent memory. If the flavor is in some way related to the Super Mario franchise, there aren’t too many good contenders. Mushroom ice cream wouldn’t be particularly appealing, nor would a spicy-floral take on “Fire Flower.” Maybe we’ll see a “Lotsa Spaghetti” flavor, harkening back to the old Super Mario Bros. Super Show cartoon. The most logical options would be either Peach (as in Princess) or Cake (as in the cake Princess Peach bakes for Mario at the end of Super Mario 64).
In addition to the actual dots featured in this new Dippin’ Dots flavor, the product images all include some sort of star-shaped mix-in. Whether they’re sprinkles or even a cookie crumble, these little stars are surely a nice textural addition to the base mystery-flavored ice cream.
Where can I get Galaxy Pop Dippin’ Dots?
This new mystery flavor is available at all Dippin’ Dots locations, now through April 30th. Even if you’re not near a proper Dippin’ Dots location, check out those freezers at movie theaters and gas stations; Galaxy Pop Dippin’ Dots are also available in the ? Block-inspired tubs seen above. In addition to the ice cream itself, three different film-inspired spoons are available while supplies last.
This Mario-branded flavor and Mario-branded spoon combination is only missing one thing to complete the full Dippin’ Dots experience: Mario-branded cups. On Mario Day (March 10th), over 120 participating Dippin’ Dots locations will give away free themed collectible cups while supplies last.
