10 New Food Products We’re Dying to Try This Summer

Summer of 2024 is shaping up to be pretty exciting. We’ve got the Olympics in Paris, the return of major TV shows like House of the Dragon and Bridgerton, the “fully conscious” baby arriving at the Four Seasons Orlando… the list goes on! For the Sporked team, though, those cultural and historical touchstones pale in comparison to what we’re most excited about this summer: food. Specifically, all the new, wacky foods that we’ve been hearing about for months. Here are ten new food products we’re dying to try this summer.

Totino’s Breakfast Rolls

If someone asked me to choose between an all-expenses paid trip to the Four Seasons Orlando or a lifetime supply of Totino’s pizza rolls, well…I would take the vacation, but I’d be really conflicted about it! The new Totino’s Breakfast Rolls filling is a savory “scramble” (no eggs are mentioned on the packaging) of pork shoulder bacon, and cheese. Honestly, Totino’s had us at “breakfast rolls,” then they threw in “pork shoulder bacon,” and we haven’t been the same since. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, as we await the fateful morning when we finally get to taste these tiny breakfast marvels. (And keep an eye out for our review!)

Jeni’s Tahini Oat Chocolate Cookies Ice Cream

You may have seen our unedited Jeni’s Splendid ice cream taste test we posted a few weeks ago, where we ranked all the Jeni’s ice cream flavors that were available to us. That was a good day, folks, a good day indeed. Sadly, though, we weren’t able to try Jeni’s new “Hot Summer Spins” ice cream collection, aka Jeni’s five new dreamy summer-inspired flavors that went straight on our bucket list. Those include: Burnt Orange Dreamsicle (will it taste…burnt?), Sparkling Cherry Pie (will it taste…sparkling?), Snow Cone Sorbet (YUM!), Double Dough, and of course, Tahini Oat Chocolate Cookies. Our editor-in-chief Justine Sterling has a good feeling about that tahini and chocolate combo, and I’m right there with her.

Reese’s Jumbo Cup

Quadruple the size of a regular Reese’s cup, Reese’s Jumbo Cup feels like someone at the Reese’s factory accidentally spilled radioactive material over the assembly line and created a Reese’s Cup monster. (It might have been the same radioactive material that turned “baby” into “fully conscious baby,” but I digress.) I’ve stared longingly at photos of the Jumbo Reese’s Cup, drooling, for too long. It’s time to try the real thing.

Doritos Baja Fiery Mango Chips

The Mtn Dew (or Mountain Dew? Rumor has it they might go back to their original branding…) continues to expand its cinematic universe with Doritos Baja Fiery Mango Chips. I have high hopes for those overactive flavor scientists at Mtn Dew, who I’m convinced could also use a vacation to the Four Seasons Orlando. (Seriously, there’s a new Mtn Dew flavor or product every month—how do they do it?!)

Blue Raspberry Slurpee Drumstick

Big Gulp Blue Raspberry Slurpees and Drumsticks had a baby, and honestly? Motherhood has never looked more appealing to me. As the Sporked team member who loves blue-flavored beverages, candies, and desserts, I might be a bit biased when I say this is the “it girl” of the new food products coming out this summer. A slurpee-ice cream float is basically my dream come true. PSA: These are only available for a limited time at 7-Eleven, so try them while you can!

Flamin’ Hot Cajun Cheddar Cheetos

Sporked contributor Tyler Bowers has already tried the new (and delicious) Flamin’ Hot Cajun Cheddar Cheetos, but the rest of our team is still waiting for these to arrive at the office. After Tyler’s glowing review, we know Chester Cheetah is not messing around. Whoever pitched Cajun seasoning for Cheetos needs a raise, stat.

Trader Joe’s Boxed Mac and Cheese (Cheddar)

Is Trader Joe’s boxed mac and cheese technically a new food product? Not really, because they’ve stocked it in the past. But it’s been off the shelf for a while, and now it’s finally back! Many of us on the Sporked team haven’t tried before, ever. If you have, and you want to speculate with us on whether or not TJ’s changed the recipe, leave a comment!

Café Bustelo Espresso Style Iced Coffee

It’s no secret that Café Bustelo makes some of the best instant coffee around. We have a huge soft spot for it. The flavor is reliable and robust, if not sometimes a little too concentrated (as espresso should be). But that’s what makes this so exciting for an iced coffee drink—no one wants a weak, watery cold brew. I’ve got a sixth sense about coffee (probably because my bloodstream is 60% java at this point), and while I don’t see these flying off the shelves, I do think they will taste objectively great. Right now, Café Bustelo is already available in three varieties at Target: Sweetened, Unsweetened, and Vanilla. It’s going to hit shelves at Walmart and Kroger as well—but the vanilla flavor is exclusive to Target!

Kraft Mac and Cheese Popcorn

If this only tastes like buttered popcorn tossed in a packet of Kraft mac and cheese powder, I’m going to be disappointed. That said, if you’re one of those people who used to buy the Kraft cheese powder on its own and season your own popcorn with it, I want to hear from you. (Apparently that was a thing.) Tell me all the reasons I’m wrong! I want to be wrong.

Oscar Mayer Bacon Cheddar Popcorn

In case Kraft Mac & Cheese Popcorn falls a little flat, I have a back-up waiting to wow me: Oscar Mayer Bacon Cheddar Popcorn. (One of them better be good, I don’t care which.) I don’t think I’ve ever tried an Oscar Mayer hot dog I didn’t like (the cheese stuffed ones are especially incredible), and I’ll be extending those high expectations to their popcorn.

Ariana Losch

Ariana Losch is a Sporked contributor, webcomic writer, java junkie, and bad TV enthusiast. She only ever feels at peace laying out on a beach like a kebab, roasting in the sun; sadly, she can never move back to Florida, her home state, because there simply isn’t enough good Mediterranean food. You can find her overstaying her welcome at just about every LA coffee shop, working on a screenplay and avoiding all eye contact. (She is embarrassed to be there, please leave her alone.)
