Nature’s Own Perfectly Crafted Thick Sliced White Bread

Nature’s Own Sliced White Bread checks all our boxes for the best bread for sandwiches, especially if you love white bread Soft, springy texture? Check. A pleasant, mild flavor that really allows your sandwich fillings to shine? Check. A thickness that makes it sturdy enough to hold everything together, without giving too much bread with one bite? Check. “Practically everything would be good between two slices of this bread,” Jordan Myrick wrote in their review. Including a simple schmear of butter. Its pliable softness also makes it some of the best bread for sealed sandwiches, like homemade Uncrustables. The possibilities are endless.

San Luis Sourdough

Best Sourdough

San Luis Sourdough

We’re sourdough simps over here at Sporked. That signature tang makes it one of the best bread for paninis, grilled cheeses, and tuna sandwiches, if you ask me. But we’ll be the first to tell you: Finding good sourdough at the grocery store is surprisingly tough. Luckily, there’s San Luis Sourdough—which is our sourdough pick for the best sliced bread that’s widely available in national grocery stores. You don’t have to hunt for that extra sour taste—unlike many lackluster brands, it really brings the flavor.

Nature’s Harvest Stone Ground 100% Whole Wheat Bread

Best Whole Wheat

Nature’s Harvest Stone Ground 100% Whole Wheat Bread

Nature’s Harvest turns the chore of eating whole wheat bread into a genuine delight. It has a springy, slightly moist texture and carries a light sweetness that really balances out those bitter grains. In my opinion, this is the best bread for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, because those whole grains enhance the earthy nuttiness of the PB. Seriously, this stuff will make you forget that white bread even exists.

Sunflour Baker Jewish Rye

Best Rye Bread

Sunflour Baker Jewish Rye

Sunflour Bakery’s Jewish Rye arrives frozen, which might put some buyers off of it—but once this stuff is thawed, you won’t want anything else. This rye sandwich bread boasts a dense, chewy, seeded texture and a fragrant aroma, with just the right amount of caraway for a balanced flavor. Its sturdy crumb makes it ideal for hearty deli sandwiches. I’m talking towers of pastrami, sauerkraut, and cheese. Take a number, because Sunflour Jewish Rye is the best bread for sandwiches that look and feel like they’re coming straight off the deli counter.

Sun-Maid Cinnamon Swirl Raisin Bread

Best Cinnamon Raisin

Sun-Maid Cinnamon Swirl Raisin Bread

Sun-Maid’s cinnamon swirl raisin bread is truly “raisin” the bar. (Wait, don’t go! I’m sorry, no more bread puns!) What we simply adored about this sandwich bread is all the sweet, juicy raisins packed inside, which perfectly balance the spiced cinnamon swirl. The dough itself is hearty but tears easily, making it perfect for toasting. This, my friends, is cinnamon raisin bread done right!

Kroger White Hoagie Rolls: Best Hoagie Rolls

Best Hoagie Rolls

Kroger White Hoagie Rolls

Why is it so hard to find decent store-bought hoagie rolls? Feels like a Big Bread conspiracy to me, but I digress. If you don’t mind hoagies that lean super soft instead of sturdy, we’ve got just the stuff for you. Kroger’s White Hoagie Rolls make the best bread for sub sandwiches we’ve found to date. Each roll is sliced neatly down the middle, the flavor is lightly sweet, and the texture is squishy and fresh.

Schar Gluten Free Artisan Baker White Bread

We keep trying new brands, but Schar continues to earn its place as the best gluten-free sandwich bread you can buy. (In fact, we loved their gluten-free hamburger buns and hot dog buns, too.) The slices are generously sized, slightly sweet, and have a convincing texture that rivals traditional white bread. Keep up the good work, Schar.

best keto bread

Best Keto Bread

Sola Sweet Oat

Anyone on the keto diet knows it can be a struggle to find bread that tastes remotely bearable. But Sola has cracked the code. While many keto options rely on almond flour, egg whites, or pea protein, Sola uses wheat gluten, wheat starch, and wheat protein as key ingredients, giving it a more authentic texture and less bitter flavor. This is the best bread for sandwiches for people on a keto diet we’ve found so far.
