The last time I covered rare Mountain Dew flavors here on Sporked, I focused mostly on out-of-production flavors you can still find online. Rest assured, I got your comments and letters: “Griffin, tell us about rare Mountain Dew flavors we can just buy.” Today, I’m bringing you seven Mountain Dew flavors that are still currently in production that you might not know about.
I’ve got a good thing going with the “7 Sodas” series here on Sporked, but this list deserves an honorable number eight. One of the Mountain Dew flavors I mentioned in my last list is available on shelves now. So, if you haven’t already tried the Dollar General-exclusive Mountain Dew Maui Burst, get yourself to our nation’s yellow-est retailer for an equally-yellow pineapple soda. Onto the official list of seven rare (but still in production) Mountain Dew flavors you gotta try.
- Mountain Dew Frost Bite
-
The first flavor on this list is about to be the hardest to find: Walmart is discontinuing Mountain Dew Frost Bite next month in favor of a new dragon fruit flavor. If you haven’t tried this bright blue “cool melon” Dew, the clock is ticking.
- Mountain Dew Purple Thunder
-
This plum berry-flavored Dew has a long and storied history as an exclusive to different stores. While Mountain Dew Purple Thunder started as a Circle K-exclusive (with its own nationwide promotional tour to boot), it expanded into the Kroger family of stores last year. This is one of my favorite Mountain Dews to date; here’s hoping the limited-run zero sugar variant comes back permanently in the future.
- Mountain Dew Overdrive
-
Mountain Dew Overdrive really picked up Mountain Dew Spark’s baton of being the car-themed gas station-exclusive Mountain Dew. This raspberry, lime, and mango-flavored citrus punch of a Dew is only available at Casey’s General Stores. You know, Casey’s? The gas station that prides itself on having better-than-average pizza? They’ve got a Mountain Dew!
- Mountain Dew Infinite Swirl
-
A Pineapple Berry Dew? Bestill my beating heart. I’d have a soft spot for Mountain Dew Infinite Swirl even if I wasn’t personally invited to the first-ever public taste test of the soda (right down the road from my house, because I am the main character). You can find this flavor at one of three gas stations, depending on your region: 7-Eleven, Speedway, or Stripes.
- Mountain Dew Dark Berry Bash
-
You’ll need to venture into a restaurant for these next few Dews (or place a Doordash order); that’s right, Taco Bell isn’t the only chain with an exclusive Dew in their soda fountain. To try this blue-raspberry/blackberry soda, you’ll need to head out to your local Applebee’s.
- Mountain Dew Legend
-
Despite sharing a blackberry core, this soda couldn’t be more different from the Applebee’s-exclusive Mountain Dew Dark Berry Bash. This blackberry-citrus-ginger Mountain Dew is available at Buffalo Wild Wings. Mountain Dew Legend isn’t my favorite flavor in a vacuum, but it definitely pairs well with wings.
- Mountain Dew Vibe
-
This is the Dew that I surprise the most people with. I talk to plenty of folks who’ve never even heard of the chain this is available at—let alone the soda itself. Yes, there is a lemonade-flavored Mountain Dew available exclusively at Which Wich sandwich shops.
