Halloween has never been Kit Kat’s favorite time of year to innovate. In recent years, our options for trick-or-treat-sized Kit Kats around Halloween have been limited to Milk Chocolate, White Creme, or the wildly exotic Orange-Colored Creme. We do tend to get Pumpkin Pie in mini bars during the autumn months, but we all know that’s a Thanksgiving flavor rather than All Hallows’ Eve. Historical data aside, 2024 is marking a shift in behavior for Kit Kat…sort of. Technically speaking, the “theme” of this year’s Halloween Kit Kat flavor flavor is spooky, but the flavor is anything but.
Cut the spooky pretense, what’s the new Kit Kat flavor!?
This fall, you’ll be able to pick up “Ghost Toast” Kit Kats made with cinnamon toast-flavored creme. I can’t say I think of cinnamon toast as a particularly Halloween-y flavor (or any kind of toast as a particularly ghostly food), but I’m still looking forward to this new release. This first-time, all new Kit Kit flavor will be available in the familiar four-bar format, as well as a bag of two-bar mini packs perfect for beggars’ night (or eating entirely by yourself, we don’t judge).
So it’s… breakfast-flavored? That’s kinda anti-climactic
America isn’t the luckiest when it comes to getting exotic Kit Kat flavors. While Japan Kit Kat flavors include things like Matcha and Strawberry Cheesecake, we get the pedestrian Pink Lemonade and Chocolate Donut. It’d be nice if we could aim a little higher for our next seasonal offering. Back in 2020, select members of the American candy-themed press received some very interesting test flavors we’ve yet to see hit store shelves: Orange Creamsicle, Cotton Candy, Cherry Cola, Chocolate Cream Pie, Blueberry Pie, and, my personal holy grail… Sweet Potato Pie. I can’t legally put into writing what I would do for one of those bars.
Don’t Cinnamon Toast Kit Kats sound familiar?
There are two previous Kit Kat releases that are similar to this new Kit Kat flavor. Sweet Cinnamon Kit Kat bars were sold here in the United States back in 2019. The major difference between those bars and the new offering is that the Sweet Cinnamon Kit Kats were made with cinnamon-flavored milk chocolate, while Ghost Toast doesn’t include any milk chocolate at all—just flavored creme. If that doesn’t ring a bell, this Kit Kat flavor profile might sound familiar to Sporked fans in particular since our brother brand, Mythical Kitchen, created Cinnamon Toast Crunch Kit Katsthree years ago! If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, consider us very charmed.
