Kool-Aid Hydration is hitting shelves now, and we’ve got all the details on this new electrolyte-packed drink mix line. Before moving forward, I recommend stepping away from any load-bearing walls or glass windows; reading this piece comes with a high risk of Kool-Aid Man-related demolition.

What is Kool-Aid Hydration?
Functionally, this is very similar to the classic Kool-Aid concept we all know and love. Every box of Kool-Aid Hydration contains six packets of this new hydration drink mix, each designed to be mixed into 20oz of water. As for which electrolytes are packed into this new nostalgic drink mix, you’ll get 4 essential electrolytes: sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium.
One thing Kool-Aid Hydration doesn’t include is artificial dyes. This is actually the first Kool-Aid drink mix in history to contain no artificial dyes–that’ll have a subsection of moms yelling “oh yeah!” for sure. Thanks to the inclusion of aspartame, this drink is also “Zero Sugar” (despite the nutritional facts listing a “trivial amount of sugar”).
Which flavors of Kool-Aid are getting the electrolytic treatment?
Kool-Aid Hydration is hitting shelves in three very familiar form factors: Tropical Punch, Grape, and Blue Raspberry Lemonade. My heart goes out to the Kool-Aid Man for not being represented in this initial launch; I’m sure we’ll see some kind of red flavor debut in the future if sales support an expansion.
Blue Raspberry Lemonade is actually my all-time favorite Kool-Aid, which definitely has nothing to do with that particular flavor’s magical ability to disguise the taste of the lowest-shelf vodka ever sold in plastic bottles. (I’d like to dedicate this story to my mother who learned that fun fact first-hand.)
Are there any other developments in the world of drink mixes?
Of all things, Propel is getting into the clear protein game with a new line of drink mixes. The Propel drink mix line is leaning even healthier than Kool-Aid. Each packet contains 20 grams of whey protein, 3 grams of fiber, and no artificial flavors, sweeteners, or added colors. Even the flavors sound like types of salad: Peach Ginger, Apple Pear, and Watermelon.
