Krispy Kreme is no stranger to elevating the donut standard with exciting limited-edition flavors. While I still need to get my hands on their amazing summer lineup, I managed to snag all three of their new Girl Scouts cookie-inspired donuts on my way out of town for a little summer road trip. Let’s find out whether these cookie-flavored pastries will put this passenger princess to sleep.
Quick note on the availability of these three donuts: Lemon-Up and Coconut Caramel are exclusive to Krispy Kreme stores, but the Thin Mints donut will be sold in a 6-pack (split with classic glazed donuts) wherever Krispy Kreme donuts are sold in retail.

Pros: Considering “Lemon Filled” is a well-established donut genre, I did not expect this to replicate the Girl Scouts Lemon-Up flavor so accurately. I believe I could pick this out as the Lemon-Up donut in a blind lineup of lemon donuts (and what a horrible afternoon that would be). While the other donuts I tried today are excellent in their excess, this is the best amalgamation of a Girl Scout cookie and a classic donut.
Cons: Speaking of the wider Krispy Kreme menu… Where are the fruity donuts? My favorite local shop has three different jelly-filled donuts available 24/7, while Krispy Kreme has one paltry raspberry-filled option on the permanent menu. Sure, the limited-time offerings often lean fruity, but that just means we’re all gambling on the seasonal option being up to snuff.

-
Pros: This is precisely as coconutty as I would hope for a Samoa/Caramel Delite-inspired donut. (Check out my review of the Girl Scouts/f’real Coconut Caramel Milkshake collaboration for the full story on why the OG cookie has two different names.) The glazed donut is dipped in chocolate icing to adhere a significant layer of coconut to the top of this ring, before a final caramel drizzle is added to further emulate the striped look of the original cookie. The end result is the crunchiest donut I’ve ever had.
Cons: Despite chocolate (milk or dark) being a major factor in the cookie, there’s very little chocolate flavor to be found here. As someone who grew up in a Samoa (made with dark chocolate) bakery region, the minimal chocolate flavor in this donut did not emulate the recipe I have a stronger fondness for. Those Caramel deLite weirdoes will probably have a better time with this.

- Girl Scouts Thin Mints Krispy Kreme Donut Review

Pros: The heavy layer of chocolate chips and actual Thin Mints cookie crumble delivers the crunch factor of the original cookie. As someone who’s reviewed more than a few Thin Mints-inspired goodies (whipped cream, Frostys from Wendy’s, Pop-Tarts, etc.) for Sporked, this continues to prove my theory: Thin Mints are hard to mess up.
Cons: The mint factor isn’t as strong as I’d hope for in a Thin Mints donut, which I’ll chalk up to the use of non-minty chocolate chips–great for texture, at the expense of diluting what I’m really here to taste. If this donut were topped purely with Thin Mint crumble, it’d easily take home a perfect 10/10.
