It wouldn’t be summertime if you weren’t stuffing your damp hand into a bag of chips while lounging by a pool (or, better yet, lounging in a pool). We have good news on that front: Frito-Lay has 15 new, limited edition, and returning fan-favorite flavors of chips on shelves this summer. Here’s what we know about the new Doritos, new Cheetos, and new Lay’s flavors you gotta get your hands on before fall rolls around.
Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Cheddar BBQ
I’m admitting it here: I’m a Flamin’ Hot purist and regard new flavors with suspicion bordering on hostility. But I also love barbecue chips, and this combination (available only at Walmart) totally works if what you’re looking for is a slightly more complex barbecue chip. Imagine the classic Flamin’ Hot flavor with a cheesy, smoky BBQ sweetness—we think they’re pretty good, though not really Flamin’ Hot by any means.

Lay’s Farmhouse Cheese & Ranch
The only ranch dip I deign to buy at the store is Dean’s, and there’s a reason—when I want ranch, I want ranch, not some ranch-flavored substance. So anything ranch-flavored must be subject to great scrutiny before I add it to the snacking rotation. Cheese and ranch as a pairing makes sense too, so I have high expectations for this new Lay’s flavor. Stay tuned for an official Sporked taste test as soon as these hit shelves this August!
Lay’s Thai Style Red Curry
Red Thai curry is a complex flavor to condense into chip form, so kudos to Lay’s for the attempt! But have they succeeded? We’ll be the judge of that. Early Reddit reviews are positive, with some folks saying the chips aren’t quite spicy enough to taste like true Thai curry. All the same, this new Lay’s flavor is on shelves now at your nearest Walmart or Kroger.
Doritos Spicy Mustard
Spicy Mustard was a pretty divisive flavor when it first dropped in 2022, with reviews ranging from “best Doritos ever” to “couldn’t finish the packet.” We liked them but didn’t love them, these new Doritos are worth trying if you like mustard that’s hot in a wasabi sort of way.

Doritos Classic Ketchup
I can see why this flavor sounded like a good idea to the folks at Frito-Lay. In a world where every serious eater puts chips in their sandwiches, a ketchup-flavored chip would kill two birds with one stone—adding a desirable crunch and a pop of tomatoey flavor. The world of ketchup chips is competitive, however, with some excellent options out there. Our final word in 2022 was that these are pretty okay, but not the best ketchup chips we’ve tried.
Ruffles Spicy Dill Pickle
After tasting Dill Pickle Cup Noodles, I’m rightly suspicious of all things pickle-flavored, and our team of taste testers hasn’t tried these yet (we will soon, promise!). Jordan Myrick, resident dill pickle chip enthusiast, tried all the dill pickle chips we could find in 2023, so we’re excited to see how these measure up.
Lay’s Southern Biscuits & Gravy
Biscuits & Gravy Lay’s are back! For context, these chips won Lay’s “Do Us a Flavor” competition back in 2015 and still have quite a solid fan following. We know there’s an audience elated to see these back in stores. Also, if you’re a Taurus, Sporked writer Jessica Block thinks this flavor is you in chip form (make of that what you will).
Doritos Tangy Pickle
At this rate, I’m going to start dreaming of dill pickles. Once again, I’m faced with a pickle chip—though not a potato chip this time. Looks like a pickle chip war this summer is inevitable, may the best pickle win! These Doritos are meant to be “dill-forward,” vinegary, and tangy— honestly, sounds like this is a great chip to dip in ranch while watching Love Island!
Doritos Twisted Queso
These oddly patriotic Doritos (red, white, and blue packaging) have popped up just in time for the 4th of July. What’s twisted about these Doritos, you ask? We’re no closer to that answer than we were when we first reported the emergence of this new flavor, which is supposed to be a ranch-queso mix, per early reviews.
New Releases from Lay’s Do Us a Flavor Contest 2025
We tried the three new flavors created by Lay’s fans across the nation—including the million-dollar (literally, the creator won a million dollars!) Bacon Grilled Cheese flavor. We had thoughts (we thought they were just okay, and if it were up to us, Valentina & Lime would’ve won!). These are still on shelves for a limited time if you’re determined to try them yourself.

Sweet Potato Poppables Sea Salt
If you prefer sweet potato chips to regular potato chips for some incomprehensible reason (I kid!) these sweet potato Poppables, which debuted this summer in a basic sea salt flavor, are probably a good option—although if you were hoping they were healthier, the bad news is that they contain more fat than regular Lay’s Poppables.
Ruffles All Dressed
Canadian faves, All Dressed Ruffles, came to the U.S. in 2015, made their mark, and were pulled off shelves for some unknown reason in 2021. The flavor came back briefly in 2023 and is now on shelves once more! Why do I suddenly feel like I’m in a weird on-again, off-again situationship with these chips?
