Folks, it takes a lot to surprise me these days. I get dozens of messages a week asking if I’ve seen this new energy drink or donut or whatever—sometimes linking me to my own article. That’s why it was such a shock when I first saw the topic of today’s review in-store while I was grocery shopping. There it was, on an endcap at Kroger: frozen Korean BBQ pizza. And from two titans of their respective realms! Red Baron is one of the biggest names in frozen pizza, while Bibigo is well-known for their Korean offerings in the freezer aisle and beyond. Let’s preheat the oven and see if these two companies have brought something new and beautiful into this world.
- Red Baron & Bibigo Korean BBQ‑Style Classic Crust Pizza

Pros: The beef shreds are definitely unique to Red Baron‘s first attempt at Korean BBQ pizza; I’ve never had rectangular, cubed beef on a frozen pizza before. While Red Baron doesn’t go so far as to call this “marinated beef” bulgogi, it definitely passes muster with this KPOT fan. The carrots maintain a solidly crunchy texture post-cooking, while the onions (two varieties: green and caramelized) kick the authenticity up a notch. Lastly, I truly expected the “Korean BBQ-style sauce” to lean more sweet than spicy; this has some genuine, authentic heat for a frozen pizza.
Cons: The sauce will definitely turn off folks who prefer their KBBQ sans spice. I definitely prefer Red Baron‘s Brick Oven crust to their Classic Crust, and this is no exception. Thin-crust frozen pizzas have never done much for me; the thicker options definitely masquerade as “fresh” pizza much better. That said, until Korean BBQ pizza is as popular as Meat Lover’s, take what you can get here.

Where can I get this frozen Korean BBQ pizza for myself?
For some reason, this new amalgamation of cuisine and culture is exclusive to the Kroger family of grocery stores. It makes sense from a business perspective–Kroger is the largest grocer in the country–but this doesn’t really fit the vibe of Kroger all too well. I associate Kroger with the suburbs, and this frozen pizza is definitely too exotic (spicy) for that crowd.
