Rumors have circulated for months, but it’s finally official: Pepsi is tackling the holiday season with a brand new cola. Following the success of Pepsi Wild Cherry & Cream, we’ll start seeing this Vanilla & Cream variant hit shelves throughout the holiday season. Pepsi was nice enough to send over a few early cans of Vanilla & Cream (in full and Zero Sugar); let’s find out whether they managed to fit the spirit of the holidays into a can.

Pros: True to theme, this is a creamy take on the classic Pepsi formula with just enough “holiday” spice to really fit the season. As soon as I get my hands on a second can, I’ll be making a Pepsi Vanilla & Cream Float for maximum indulgence.
Y’all, it’s a great time to enjoy cream sodas. More and more creamy variants like this are being released, and many have stuck around for good to boot. While Pepsi Vanilla & Cream is not currently listed as a permanent launch, I could see a world where a positive reaction to this holiday release flips that switch.
Cons: This isn’t my ideal holiday flavor combination, but I might be in the minority there. I would have been more excited to see a Cranberry Cream Pepsi or even a Cinnamon Cream… Okay, now that I’ve written it down, maybe a Horchata Pepsi isn’t the best idea. Regardless, this release has only reminded me how good we had it with Nitro Pepsi.

Pros: The Zero Sugar version of this new holiday release delivers more creaminess than the alternative, likely because the artificial sweeteners deliver stronger sweetness than sugar alone. Whether you drink Pepsi Zero Sugar on doctor’s orders or by choice, there’s no reason to be jealous; this formula is just as solid as the full-sugar version. Pair this with some better-for-you vanilla ice cream if you’re looking for a healthy indulgent treat.
Cons: The extra sweetness is a little much for me–no small feat, considering my well-documented sweet tooth. I’m not sure why these cans feature a cookie on the packaging. If you’re hoping for a baked good-style vanilla flavor in either of these new colas, you’ll be disappointed.
