It might feel like we talk about a new piece of Frito-Lay news every week here on Sporked. (And that’s because we do!) Every time we think that we’re all caught up in the Frito-Lay Snackiverse, like a magician, Frito-Lay pulls another snack release out of their hat. And this time, we’ve learned that Frito-Lay has secretly brought not one, but seven fan favorite chips and snacks back to store shelves.
MARUCHAN X FUNYUNS HOT & SPICY CHICKEN RAMEN
Out of absolutely nowhere, Super Snack Enjoyer Team Supernova (also known as me) spotted this popular Maruchan x Funyuns collab at Speedway! Sources have confirmed that this return is exclusive to Speedway, 7-Eleven, and Stripes locations. I was pretty satisfied when I reviewed these last year, so if you were a fan or didn’t get a chance to try them when they first released, here’s a second chance!
LAY’S WAVY FRIED GREEN TOMATO
Originally introduced back in 2017 as part of the “Do Us a Flavor” promotion, Lay’s Wavy Fried Green Tomato chips were recently spotted in action with no prior announcement at Meijer (a grocery chain based primarily in Ohio and Michigan) by a good friend and fellow content creator, Your Snack Dealer. Sources tell me that while these are available for a limited time, they are not exclusive.
RUFFLES DOUBLE CRUNCH HOT WINGS
Reddit is reporting this fan favorite flavor of Ruffles (originally released in 2019) as being back in action! Our sources tell us these are not exclusive to any specific retailer.
DORITOS LATE NIGHT LOADED TACO
Released in 2009 (then turned into a Kroger exclusive in 2023), fan favorite Doritos Late Night Loaded Taco has made a full return. It’s no longer exclusive to any store and it’s available on Snacks.com (Frito-Lay’s online ordering website).
LAY’S CHESAPEAKE BAY CRAB SPICE
We talked a bit about these in a review, but in case you missed it, another flavor from Lay’s Do Us a Flavor promotion has mysteriously appeared on shelves: Lay’s Chesapeake Bay Crab Spice. I spotted these at Walmart, but they have been spotted elsewhere and sources tell us they are not exclusive.
INTERNATIONAL INSPIRED LAY’S
Thanks to posts on Reddit and from Your Snack Dealer, we’re also able to confirm that two of last year’s international-flavor inspired flavors, Honey Butter (inspired by flavors of South Korea) and Tzatziki (Inspired by flavors of Greece), have also returned with no announcement to store shelves (no sign of Masala unfortunately).
