Every year, the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) hosts a big event called the NACS Show. It’s what you’d expect: a conference and expo dedicated to everything that convenience stores need to function. What makes that interesting for us? Convenience stores need new snacks and drinks to function. Today, we’re going to run down some of the most interesting products making an appearance at this event.
We’ve already covered two NACS reveals in extra detail here on Sporked; be sure to check out our coverage of Peanut Butter & Jelly M&Ms and two new flavors of Nerds Gummy Clusters. Here’s a bunch of other stuff we are tracking.
- Capri Sun 12oz Bottles
-
Rumors about this one scared a few people. Folks, rest easy: Capri Sun pouches aren’t going anywhere. The good folks at Capri Sun must have gotten all my letters about how annoying it was to use those goofy little straws when I ranked 17 Capri Sun flavors because in the near future, you’ll be able to pick up 12oz bottles of Capri Sun. Between this and the party jugs, it seems like Capri Sun is truly growing up. (So, when are we launching Hard Capri Sun?)
- f’real Blue Raspberry and Strawberry Watermelon Energy Freeze
-
I’m not sure who regularly uses those ominous f’real machines; I’ve used the one at my favorite gas station exactly once when they launched a mystery flavor earlier this year. They realized how to hook me in though, because f’real is revealing a new innovation that has certainly caught my eye: their first caffeinated frozen beverages. Each cup contains 100mg of caffeine—a little more than the smallest size of Red Bull. The flavors are pretty standard, but I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for this new format of energy drink.
- Slice Soda
-
Slice is back! Again! Again? Seriously, how many times is this brand going to be reinvented? This time around, Slice is going to be pumped full of prebiotics and probiotics. (That’s both kinds!) Flavor wise, they’re starting out with Orange, Cola, Lemon Lime, and Grapefruit. Nothing out of the ordinary, and at 5 grams of sugar per can, it’ll fit right in next to the Olipops and Poppis in the
sadhealthy aisle. - Vanilla and Cherry Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola Canned Cocktails
-
Jack Daniel’s official collaboration with Coca-Cola is expanding into a new variety pack, featuring the original combination (one of the best canned cocktails, if you ask us), plus new Cherry and Vanilla variants.
- Cinnabon International Delight Iced Coffee
-
International Delight has been quietly scooping up some big name collaborations for their canned iced coffee line. Cinnabon will be joining Oreo and Reese’s in the coffee cooler of your nearest convenience store. Something interesting to note here is that this isn’t explicitly labeled as cinnamon bun flavored; “Cinnabon Bakery Inspired” is a very specific phrase to use in place of an actual flavor name. Branding is so interesting, y’all.
